1. What We Collect

When you use HornLog we collect only the information necessary to provide the service:

  • Email address (for account identification and recovery)
  • PIN (stored using industry-standard one-way hashing — we never store your raw PIN)
  • Instrument details (make, model, serial number, material, comments)
  • Service records (shop name, date, services performed, notes)
  • Receipt images or PDFs you upload

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Authenticate you and protect your instrument records
  • Display public service history for instruments (make, model, serial number, service entries)
  • Send transactional emails (registration confirmation, PIN recovery, ownership transfers)
  • Respond to contact-form inquiries

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure located in the United States. Uploaded receipts are access-restricted and served only to authorized users. All data is encrypted in transit.

4. Cookies

HornLog uses only functional cookies required for authentication:

  • Session cookies — keep you signed in and verify access to your instruments
  • Account cookie — remembers which instruments you own so the interface can show them

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at hello@hornlog.com or via our contact form. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Your Rights (GDPR & Similar Regulations)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@hornlog.com.

7. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of reputable service providers to operate HornLog:

  • A managed database and file-storage provider
  • A transactional email delivery provider
  • An application hosting provider

Each provider processes data under their own privacy policies and data-processing agreements.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the “Last updated” date above.
